Why We Built Sproutly

Sproutly started with a struggling fiddle-leaf fig and a lot of second-guessing. Like many plant owners, we kept searching the same questions — "why are my leaves yellowing?", "how often do I water this thing?" — and getting generic advice that never quite fit our plant, in our home, under our lighting conditions.

So we built the app we wished existed: one that starts with your actual plant, helps explain what may be going wrong, and gives you a care plan that is easier to follow than a one-size-fits-all article. Sproutly combines plant care research, useful tools, and a dash of plant-parent empathy to make indoor care feel simpler.

Today, Sproutly is built for first-time plant owners and seasoned enthusiasts who want clearer, calmer ways to care for their indoor gardens.

How We Approach Plant Guidance

Sproutly publishes practical plant guidance. Our source notes link to university extension services, horticultural organizations and specialist growing references. We use these to explain care decisions; a source-based guide is not a report of a growing trial or a diagnosis of your particular plant.

  • Start with observations: soil moisture, light, roots and the pattern of new damage.
  • Distinguish broad starting ranges from measured values and species-specific requirements.
  • Explain tool limitations. A quiz shortlist is not a confirmed identification.
  • Credit reference photographs and label our explanatory illustrations.
  • Use update dates for substantive revisions and welcome corrections through our contact page.
